She keeps Moet et Chandon in her pretty cabinet..

My apologies for my brief absence; had a couple o' weeks of learning materials and audition-ifying!  Haha.  Also, my doctor started me on a new weight loss program, and I'm delighted to say that I've already lost 10lbs.  I am feeling so much better; I've so much energy it's fantastic.

At the risk of offending fellow fat activists (or those who call themselves FA's, but still manage to demonstrate negativity within the community) it should be known that I've repeatedly stated that ALL bodies are beautiful bodies.  I am in no way saying that because I am overweight that is why I have had a lack of energy.  However, I know MY body, and I know how I am comfortable.  I know my struggle and have fortunately identified just some of the issues that have led me to where I am today.  This is a journey I wish to take, but I would never dare say it's a journey for everyone.  We are all on our own special journey.  :)

The Main Event

Today was a mighty fine thrifting day with Mom.  :)  Here's what I wore for the weekly event.  A Mick Jagger tee (YUM!) and a pair of comfy shorts.  I was ready to go.

Clark and Amy came along for the ride; My good luck charms, you see..

Mom found a TON of cute things; It was really her day.  I was so glad she found such great stuff for summer.  I found a few great things..starting with this amazing bracelet.  (The one on the top.)

Say it with me now:  Ooohhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm.

It was the first find of the day, and I knew instantly that I needed to have it.  It pairs nicely with my Hamsa hand bracelet..which is the little fella right 'neath it.

Then I ran into this terrific top.  I wish you could feel it.  It's a linen weave, and has these beautiful beads chunked around the neckline.  Chunked?  Yeah, we'll go with that.  :)

And I really dig the pattern.

Then there was this sexy little number that's lets me show off the girls..

It's got lurex throughout, and my love for lurex pretty much knows no bounds.  So, needless to say, this was a must.  Plunging neckline + Lurex = On my body.

Oh!  And my new phone case came today!

It's a scene from Disney's Haunted Mansion.  The famous stretching portraits can be seen when you enter the house, and before you begin the official ride.  There are 4 of them, and this is my favorite.  I was so stoked to find this item.  Kind of random that it should be offered on a cell phone case, but I'm definitely going with it.  I thought it was different, and uniquely me.  :)  Makes me happy every time I look at it!

Look For The Girl With The Sun In Her Eyes..

It's Maxi Time!!!

Awwwww Yeaaaaaahhhhh!

I didn't have my shoes on yet, 'cause when I run around the house, it's always barefoot.  lol  That's where the Florida girl in me comes out.  There's this terrific ruffle at the bottom though..

I adore this print.  It's all colorful and tribal-esque and oddly pixelated.  lol  I LOVE, I really do.

~~~~~
This frock is so comfortable, and I feel great in it!  It's definitely gonna be a summer staple.
For sure.
The straps are removable; This is super great for me.  I like that in a frock.  :)
I Get Ideas
It appears that all I wanna do is put big flowers in my big, very blonde hair, whilst dancing around in lovely vintage caftans/kaftans.
It seems I switch back and forth with the spelling.  Should I commit to one?  lol  Beautiful friend Vanessa over at Two Squirrels Vintage uses the K version; I'm gonna take her cue!  :)
I stumbled across this vintage caffy/kaffy (totally just made up a word) about a year ago.  I was like, ::singing:: I MUST HAVE YOUUUUUUU.
As a matter of fact, I was backstage and it was during a show; A moment I wasn't supposed to be onstage, of course.  I had internet signal and decided to go cruisin' on Etsy.  I hit add to cart moments before I had to be back onstage, and completed the sale once I returned to the dressing room.
There was even a blog post where I shared the store photo with you, and was gushing with excitement.  :)
And the rest..the rest was history.
I really like the shape.  Wide at the top, narrows toward the bottom.  I love when they're made like that. The shiny neckline has a pattern, but because of the fabric, has faded a bit over time.  Mostly at the top..the bottom of the design (toward the bust) is actually still quite bold.  This didn't bother me at all.  I thought it looked kinda cool; Almost like it was meant to fade.  :)  And I quite like the little tie..
I'm not sure why I'm showing you my elbow.  But, enjoy!
p.s.  I forgot to put on my rings today.  What's up with that?!  How did I not feel completely naked?
Everybody Must Have A Fantasy.
This is something I've been wanting to try; I'd bought this skirt a while ago and thought it was time I brought her out to play.
I've had this shirt for years, and I'll continue to lerve it no matter how tight it gets on my bosom.  :)  It's an Andy Warhol art tee, and it says:
Everyone winds up kissing the wrong person goodnight.
I've always enjoyed it; as well as the esthetic of the tee itself.  So, I thought it might look cute'ems paired up with this mint velvet skirt.
This was not the belt I'd originally intended, but as I was digging through my belts I exclaimed, "Oh, you'll do!"  :D  I never did find the one I was looking for..hmmmm...
I piled this fun-ness on my head, 'cause it made me very happy!  Bestie Susan gifted me the handmade Katharine Hepburn hair flower on my last birthday; I thought she should be the centerpiece.  :)  All 3 flowers are separate.  I just clipped 'em on in!
I'm sort of covering my nifty Clark Gable pendant.  You can see him better in the previous photo!  I felt good and fun in this..good and fun.  :D
Mitzi.
I'd been eyeing her for a while.
I'd say we're probably around the same age.  I usually go for a little older, but I couldn't help myself.  She's fun, and so unique.  And beautiful.  Her shape is exquisite; I had to have my hands all over her!  I could see us, and all the adventures we'd have together.  Some things are just meant to be.
Ain't she purdy?!?!
I have this rule.  Say you find something that tickles your fancy; You don't purchase said something at that exact moment.  You go about your day.  Maybe even sleep on it.  If you wake up the next morning, and you're still thinking about it..you should probably make a move.  :D
We all know my strong affinity for vintage purses.  Particularly box purses.  And I've always got my eyes peeled for tapestry.  However, I rarely ever find great purses whilst thrifting in my neck of the woods.  Sometimes I'll get lucky.  Often at the flea market.  Also, if I head to a neighboring big city, I'll have much better luck.  But then I run into the problem of the purse being outrageously priced.  And part of the fun for me is a great deal.  :)  However, there are the occasional exceptions where I'll shell out.
I ran into this lovely on Etsy; A goldmine for vintage treasures.  And sometimes you can find a fantastic deal!  I slept on it, and when I woke this morning, I took the plunge.  I'm so happy I did.
I love the leather, and the tapestry is totally delish.  The pattern is really sweet.  What do we think?  :D
Getting To Know You..
I'll tell ya, the things I go through to maintain my natural hair color.. ;)
It's very blonde; I added highlights to what I already had, and the outcome is just as I'd originally planned/wanted.  :D  Lots of white blonde running through it..
I'm so blonde, and so happy!
For those of you who asked (I definitely remember the lovely Miss Lisa over at dreamznwishz)..the box blonde step that I did myself was the Loreal line of dyes.  It was the lightest of the Blonde Supreme edition.  I believe it was this one:
It made for some great lightening.  It was an excellent base; I just added the highlights for more dimension.  I have a tendency to get a little brassy when it's under 40 volume 'cause I've some natural red in my hair.  :)
So, I wanted to do something a little different today.  I nabbed this little diddy from a fab blog I recently found, A Girl Of Many Interests.  I thought it was fun, and a great way for new readers to get to know a bit more about moi.  I've incorporated some throwback photos, just for funsies.  :)  So, this is getting to know me, A-Z..
A. Age:  30..coming very soon to a theater near you.
B. Bed size:  Twin
C. Chore that you hate:  I guess I'd have to say anything having to do with dishes; particularly putting them away.  But, thank goodness I have dishes to put away.  :)
D. Dogs:  My main fella is my English Bulldog son, Bogart (Bogie)..but we've also another English Bulldog named Gussy.  Then there are the Shih Tzu's..Isabelle (I birthed her, and she is my darling girl), and her mama, Shelby.  It's neat to have a mama and her daughter.  We had the daddy as well, Hemingway, but he recently passed away.  He's still here though!  He's always in our hearts!  :)
My darling Bogie.  He likes to wave.
E. Essential start to your day:  Coffee and tunes.
F. Favorite color:  Yellow.  I've also a fondness for Teal and Purple.
G. Gold or Silver:  I truly enjoy both.  However, I'll almost always lean towards Silver.  I love gaudy, costume-y jewelry..as long as it falls into that category, it hardly matters.
H. Height:  5'3".
I. Instruments you play:  My voice!  :)  I'm a singer.  I dabble in guitar.  Unfortunately, I never really learned an instrument 'cause I was always singing.  Wish I had though.  It's never too late, right?!
J. Job title:  Professional Singer/Actress.  I'm a member of Actors' Equity (AEA) and perform regionally on the theater/cabaret circuit.  I do a ton of musical theater.  :)
Me as Grizabella the Glamour Cat in CATS.
On my first national tour as the Tooth Fairy in Arthur, Live! based on the PBS television series.
As Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray.
K. Kids:  Bogart!  ..and the rest of the pups, of course.
L. Live:  Florida..sometimes NYC.
M. Mother’s name:  Nancy.  Or Nance.  :)
N. Nicknames:  Boo.  Or Sare (pronounced S-air)..
O. Overnight hospital stays:  A few.  Some due to my Anemia.
P. Pet peeves:  My biggest pet peeve is  ignorance.  Unfortunately, I encounter that a lot.  Also, I get really aggravated when an article of clothing falls from a hanger while I'm shopping/thrifting.  This happens ALL OF THE TIME; usually approx 7 times during a shoppe visit.  I'll barely touch it, and off it goes.
Q. Quote from a movie:  "Hello, Gorgeous."  -Funny Girl
Me enjoying some Flapper Realness.
R. Right or left handed:  Mainly left..but I'm ambidextrous.  I can write with my right hand, and will always use the right when cutting, etc.
S. Siblings:  I have a half brother, and half sister.
T. Time you wake up:  It depends.  However, I probably won't get up too early if it's not required.  :)  I'm a night owl, and it sometimes catches up with me.
U. Underwear:  Sure!  I'm becoming particularly fond of it as outerwear!
V. Vegetable you hate:  Beets.
W. What makes you run late:  Little things.  I can prep for days, and there will still be something which causes me to run behind.  Getting my eyeliner just the way I want it is often the case.
Me and my best friend, Matthew.  Ain't he cute?  Going on 13 years..
X. X-Rays you’ve had:  Ugh.  I'm gonna go with almost everything.
Y. Yummy food that you make:  I make a mean taco ring.  Also, I can make pancakes as big as your head!
Z. Zoo animal:  Does a Sloth qualify?  I love sloths.  I love all animals, so this is tough.  Elephants!!!  Yeah, Elephants.  I have a tendency to purposely call them Ephelants.
So, there ya have it!  You should do it too, so I can read all about you!  :D
XO!
